What’s the weather like?

This morning the girls and I went out to run a few errands and I was surprised at how cold it was outside. The sun was shining and our home was warm and cozy, so I dressed the girls in summer attire. Needless to say I felt pretty silly when we walked outside and we’re greeted with a cold gust of wind. I felt as though I had a flashing sign saying “I’m from California. We dress in summer clothes in September!”  The afternoon warmed up a bit but I did change Charlie Joy out of her summer romper and into a cute sweatshirt pants romper.

Will, or as he’s been going by in Wyalusing his childhood nickname of Bill, has been taking up the guitar for the last several weeks and is pretty good at it already. It seems to come natural to him. The girls LOVE when he plays guitar! Charlie Joy is trying to play guitar as well and Gracie got a little toy guitar at the dollar store last week to be like daddy. Charlie Joy will strum daddy’s guitar (very loudly) as she sings “my Jesus, my savior” in the sweetest little voice!

Jaeda and Andre are adjusting quite nicely. They’ve both made friends and seem to really enjoy their school compared to their time in California. It’s a relief to have them adjust so well. They’re still teenagers that would prefer to hang out in their rooms rather than hang out with adults, but we do see them more now then we did in our old house.

Things have really settled down around here. I still have small stuff to unpack, winter clothes to organize and put in drawers as it’s going to be cold before we know it! I hope we have the right type of winter attire for here but I’m thinking we’ll all need new coats to say the least. We have our first family camp trip booked for early October and I have a feeling it’s going to be a cold camping trip. We get to take out our camper for the first time and I’m so excited!  I can handle the cold a lot better when I have a warm camper to sleep in 😉

The girls and I took a “nature walk” in our backyard today as part of our homeschool lesson. They were so excited! We found an orange butterfly that followed us around most of the walk. We named him “buddy the butterfly” and anytime we see an orange butterfly I tell the girls it’s “buddy”.

Not much else to report at this point, other than we are all loving living in Wyalusing. It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever lived. The small town life really suits me and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my adult life. I have a beautiful family, a beautiful home, and a beautiful town to live in. What more could I want?  ...a puppy dog!  Stay tuned on that one...
